$700,000,000,000 and No Scope Statement!
December 9, 2008 8:45 am Project Management DiscussionWatching the news lately and seeing all the “bailout” money being distributed to failing corporations like a big “money-storm”, it makes me wonder. What are they thinking?
We, the American taxpayers, through our elected representatives, have violated one of the most basic concepts in project management. We have granted authority to spend $700,000,000,000 – and no one has a scope statement to tell them what we intend to spend it on.
Fortunately, TSI will not be one of the corporations being “rewarded” for their incompetence with a government bailout. TSI is not only solvent, but we are flourishing and expanding our business. If you want to know how to manage you project budget efficiently, (even if you don’t have $700,000,000,000 to spend) please, give us a call and let us show you how we can help you and your organization.

Hopefully, the new administration will demonstrate more financial leadership when distributing funds to help strengthen the economic situation of the country. The blogs on whitehouse.gov intend to provide a “transparency of government” which has not existed in previous administrations.
Since the new president did such an excellent job of engaging so many voters with the social networking medium, let us hope his administration continues use it to provide more information previously not available to the voting public. For a frequent web traveler like myself, this is a convenient news gathering style, whether researching a current project or surfing for entertainment.
I guess we will just have to see how things shake out after the first month or two of the new leadership. Let us hope some of the new team members understand PMI concepts at some level.
